Soot Sprites

Abbreviations- sc (single crochet), st (stitch), sts (stitches), sc dec (single crochet decrease), F/O (finish off)

Crochet Hook Size- G or H

Finished Measurements with using G hook- approximately 2 inches tall using the G hook and 2 ½ inches tall using the H hook.

Materials needed: “Fun Fur” by Lion Brand (Black). White felt for eyes. Clear or white thread for sewing on eyes, black thread for pupils of the eyes. Scissors.

(Important note before you start crocheting: this yarn is very very difficult to use as far as knowing where your stitches are, so pay close attention)

Using the Magic Ring Method add 6 sc into the circle.

R1: 2 sc in each st (12)

R2-4: sc in all sts (12)

R5: sc dec 6 times (6)

Stuff the Soot Sprite and then sc dec until the hole is closed off. F/O

Weave in all ends with the yarn needle or crochet hook.

Eyes

1) Cut out two white oval pieces. 

2) Use white thread to sew white ovals to body. (just one time through the oval and body should hold the eye on securely). Then make sure you knot the white thread behind one of the eyes after sewing, then pull the thread through the body and cut from the needle.

3) Use the black thread to sew the pupils on where you want them. I went over the same spot twice for each pupil. You can also use a sharpie if you’d like, although sharpie doesn't mark felt well.

After you're all done with the eyes, cut the fuzziness down to about 1/4 of an inch. Then it will have sort fuzziness all over. Or cut the fuzziness down first to make it easier for sewing the eyes on. Your choice.  :)

Hello Kitty Cozy for Hot Cups

Abbreviations- ch (chain), sc (single crochet), dc (double crochet), htc (half triple crochet), tc (triple crochet), st (stitch), sts (stitches), sl st (slip stitch), rep (repeat), sk (skip), F/O (finish off)

Crochet Hook Size- H

Finished Measurements when using H hook-  2 ½ inches tall not including ears, 9 inches in circumference at most narrow part, and 9 ½ inches at widest part.

Materials needed: Sugar ‘n Cream White, Sugar ‘n Cream Red, Sugar ‘n Cream Black, Sugar ‘n Cream Yellow. (One skein of each will make tons of these cozies). Black basic felt, scissors, a yarn needle, sewing needle and thread for sewing the eyes on.

Instructions for Head

Ch 26, join with sl st to first ch

R1: Sc in same st as joined to, sc rest of sts (26)

R2: Sc all sts (26)

R3: *Sc in next 12 sts, 2 sc in next st… rep from * once more (28)

R4-7: Sc all sts (28)

R8: Sc next 27 sts, sl st into last stitch (28)

R9: slip st in next st and f/o

Ears (make 2)

 

Join white yarn in st after last sl st and chain 1

Dc in next st, htc, tc, htc in next st, dc in next st, sl st in next st f/o

Sk 5 sts and rep last steps for first ear.

Bow

Use the magic adjustable ring and sc 6 sts into the ring. Sl st to the first sc made.

Ch 3, htc, 2 tc, htc, dc in same spc as sl st. f/o

Sk 3 sts and join yarn in next st. rep for previous side of bow.

Now, weave in all ends to keep your work organized.

Whiskers (make 6)

You’re going to weave six separate pieces of yarn through the front of the face to get the whisker affect. Tie each end of the yarn in a knot onto the inside of your work.

Nose

Make it the same way you made the whiskers except with yellow yarn.

Eyes (make 2)

Cut two small oval pieces of black felt and sew them onto the appropriate places

[I’d plan on making the eyes out of needle and thread or buttons if you plan on washing this cozy]

Sewing Time

Sew on the bow to the head below the ear with needle and thread, or with some of the red Sugar 'n Cream yarn if you'd like.

P.S.- The eyes in the photo tutorial are made with yarn rather than felt as in the first photo.

Togepi Egg

Abbreviations- ch (chain), sc (single crochet), st (stitch), sts (stitches), sl-st (slip stitch), sc dec (single crochet decrease), F/O (finish off)

Crochet Hook Size- G

Finished Measurements with using G hook- Approximately 7" tall and 17" in circumference at widest 

part. Make sure that you don't make the stitches too tight, or else the egg won't be very plushy.

Materials needed

-Red Heart Super Saver White

-Place Marker

-Red and Blue basic felt

-Scissors

-Yarn needle

-Sewing needle and thread for sewing the egg spots on. (Recommended, red and blue sewing thread to match felt colors)

With color White use the adjustable ring/circle method to work in the round and single crochet 12 stitches into the ring/circle. Place marker at the top of the last sc, then, start with round one. Remove marker once you get to the last stitch, and then replace it after the last sc of each round to keep your place.

R1: *sc in next st, 2 sc in next st… rep from * (18)

R2 and every even row: sc all

R3: *sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st… rep from * (24)

R5: *sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st… rep from * (30)

R7: *sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st… rep from * (36)

R9: *sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st… rep from * (42)

R11: *sc in next 6 sts, 2 sc in next st… rep from * (48)

R12-22: sc all (48)

R23: *sc in next 6 sts, sc dec in next 2 sts… rep from * (42)

R24: *sc in next 5 sts, sc dec in next 2 sts… rep from * (36)

Stuff the egg here. It’ll be a little lumpy at first, but it’ll smooth out after stuffing it full.

R29: *sc dec in next 2 sts… rep from * (6)

Stuff the project a tiny more if needed then F/O

Cut yarn and leave a tail. Weave tail through remaining stitches twice and pull the hole close and weave the yarn tail into the egg to hide it.

Pull the yarn tail at the beginning of the egg to tighten the top and weave it into the egg to hide it. Also, use a crochet hook to pull the little loop created by the adjustable ring/circle method into the egg to hide it

Now the last steps are for creating the egg spots out of felt

Step 1: Cut out 4-5 red and 4-5 blue felt pieces in the shape of triangles or rhombuses at different sizes (whatever shapes you want really). Make sure the corners are a bit rounded for the Togepi Spots. Cut out the middle of the felt pieces  as in the picture. You can always look up Togepi’s egg online to see pictures of the egg spots too.

Step 2: Now, sew red spots in the appropriate places with the red thread and needle, and the blue spots in their appropriate places as well with the blue thread and needle.

[A tip for great spots is to not pull too tightly on the sewing thread while sewing. Otherwise the spots will come out wavy after sewing]

Poke'ball

Abbreviations- ch (chain), sc (single crochet), st (stitch), sts (stitches), sl-st (slip stitch), sc dec (single crochet decrease), F/O (finish off)

Crochet Hook Size- G

Finished Measurements with using G hook- 3 ½ inches tall and wide, 11 ½ inches circumference.

Materials needed: Red Heart Super Saver Red (Color A), Black (Color B) and White (Color C). Black and white basic felt, scissors, a yarn needle, sewing needle and thread for sewing the button on.

With color A (red) use the adjustable ring/circle method to work in the round and single crochet 6 stitches into the ring/circle. Then start with round one.

R1: 2 sc in each st (12)

R2: *sc in next st, 2 sc in next st… rep from * (18)

R3: *sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st… rep from * (24)

R4: *sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st… rep from * (30)

R5: *sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st… rep from * (36)

R6-7: sc all (36)

Join Color B (Black) with a sl-st in the first sc of the next round.

R8: ch 2, sc all and into the same st as the black sl-st at begging of row. (36)

Join Color C (White) with a sl-st in the top of the ch 2 made with Color B (Black)

R9: ch 2, sc all and into ch 2 space (36)

R10: sc all (36)

R11: *sc in next 4 sts, sc dec in next 2 sts… rep from * (30)

R12: *sc in next 3 sts, sc dec in next 2 sts… rep from * (24)

R13: *sc in next 2 sts, sc dec in next 2 sts… rep from * (18)

R14: *sc in next st, sc dec in next 2 sts… rep from * (12)

R15: *sc dec in next 2 sts… rep from * (6)

Stuff Poke’ball with desired filling. I used fiberfill.

Sc dec until Poke’ball is closed. Also, pull the starting end of the yarn to tighten the ring/circle at the top of the poke’ball.

Weave in all ends with the yarn needle or crochet hook (stuff them into the poke’ball to hide them).

As for the little loop created at the top by using the adjustable rind/circle method, insert the hook into any spot on the poke’ball and then through the top of the poke’ball where the loop is, and pull the loop into the poke’ball.

 

Now the last steps are for creating the button out of felt

Step 1: Cut one circle out of each colored felt, making the black circle slightly larger.

Step 2: Now, sew the white circle to the black circle with your sewing needle and thread.

Step 3: Sew the black part of the button to the appropriate spot on the Poke’ball. I sewed it to the opposite side of where I made the color changes of the yarn.
